Thinking About Travelling Solo? Start Somewhere That Feels Easy

One of the biggest misconceptions about solo travel is that it has to be bold, adventurous or completely independent from the very beginning.

It doesn’t.

Your first solo trip does not need to involve hiking through remote landscapes, navigating unfamiliar roads or working everything out on your own. In fact, one of the best first solo travel experiences is often the one that feels comfortable, manageable and exciting without feeling overwhelming.

That might mean choosing a destination with an easy airport, a walkable city, beautiful day trips, friendly locals, great food and plenty to see without needing to rush.

This is one of the reasons I love South Australia for solo travellers.

As a South Australian local who has lived here my whole life, my intention is to create experiences that show off some of the very best parts of our state.

Here in South Australia, we are known for celebrating the simple pleasures: good food, beautiful landscapes, welcoming towns, world-class wine, wildlife, culture and time to slow down and enjoy life.

South Australia is the perfect destination to relax, unwind and experience something special without feeling rushed. Our state has so much to offer, from a culturally rich city centre to peaceful coastlines, rolling vineyards, charming country towns, native wildlife and unforgettable places like Kangaroo Island.

Adelaide is compact and easy to settle into. You can enjoy a beautiful hotel, wander through the city, visit the Adelaide Central Market, take a relaxed trip into the nearby regions, see wildlife on Kangaroo Island, and experience so much of the state without spending endless hours on the road.

For many people, the hardest part is not the travel itself. It is the decision to say, “Yes, I’m going to do this for myself.”

Starting somewhere that feels easy helps take away some of that pressure.

That is also why I created Solo South Australia. It is for people who want the freedom of solo travel, but with the comfort of being looked after, having their own private room, travelling with a very small group, and not having to plan every detail alone.

Solo travel does not have to mean doing everything by yourself. It can mean choosing an experience that gives you independence, comfort, connection and support, all at the same time.

So if you are thinking about your first solo trip, my advice is simple:

Don’t start with the destination that makes you feel nervous.

Start with the one that makes you think, “Actually, I could do that.”

Solo South Australia has been created for solo travellers who want to experience the best of South Australia in a relaxed, fully hosted small-group setting.
